Companionship Services
Companionship Services
As seniors age, simple chores like light housekeeping, preparing meals, medication management, driving a car or staying connected to family and friends can present a challenge. Having someone around to give a helping hand, offer friendly visits and enjoyable conversations is all they need to live comfortably at home. CareFirst is here to provide a helping hand when it’s needed most. Our compassionate team addresses the essential home care and companionship needs of your loved ones, keeping them happy, active and engaged.
What is Companion Care?
Companion care is usually a less intensive, non-medical service often including activities like driving to an appointment, playing cards, going on walks, visiting family and friends, and anything that keeps the patient busy and enjoying life. Many seniors living at home alone need companionship and mental stimulation, but not necessarily hands-on care. For example, many families find themselves living very far or having busy schedules that don’t allow them to take good care of their elderly loved ones. Companion care is perfect for such adults who would want to enjoy their independence at home with a friendly, compassionate companion who regularly visits to sit, chat, and reminisce.
Our companion care services include:
-
Adult and elderly home
companion visits – Providing companionship, friendship and emotional support - Giving medication reminders
- Assist with writing letters and correspondence
- Talking, listening and sharing experiences
- Connecting with loved ones through e-mail and social media
- Engaging in stimulating activities such as art projects, exercises, games and reading
- Scheduling assistance – Driving the client to appointments and other outings
- Respite and family relief
Homemaking
In addition to being a friendly companion, our caregivers can:

Get Started with Companion Care
Research has shown that social interactions have a significant impact on the life expectancy and overall well-being of seniors. Other additional benefits of using senior companion care include:
- Professionally trained personal care attendants who develop strong friendships with their clients in a caring and nurturing manner.
- Enhanced nutrition and quality care
- Improved safety and security, especially if someone lives alone
- A way to stay mentally and socially active, which is critical to a healthy senior life
- Offers peace of mind to concerned family members who are unable to provide continuous assistance to their loved ones.
- Meaningful companionship to those who have limited ability to travel or move around perhaps due to their health conditions.
An important note is that companion care and homemaking is different from home health agency services. A home health aide has additional licensing for personal hands-on care and provides skilled medical care that a standard care provider can’t give according to state law. However, companionship care is often times more affordable, allowing your senior loved ones to receive genuine care and enjoy their independence at a reasonable price.
